About:
I’m a mom of 2 young children, and my mental health care GP practice is based in Claremont. I’m a medical doctor who has worked exclusively in the mental health field of medicine for over 10 years, and developed a deep love for working with women and moms particularly. I have a team of lovely doctors who work alongside me, and we focus on really connecting our patients to not only an assessment or diagnosis, but also a holistic plan that they can collaboratively be a part of. We have a wonderful network of psychologists, OTs, counsellors, coaches, and specialists that we work with, so that the whole picture is taken into account.
Qualifications:
MBChB (Stel)
Psychiatry registrar training (UCT) Part 1 psychiatry Mmed exams
Over 10 years of full time psychiatry clinical experience
About Dr Lené’s Practice
This practice was born from my own journey accessing mental health care. During my final year of psychiatry training, in the midst of the pandemic and after the birth of my first child, I experienced depression and anxiety. Stepping back from demanding public-sector hours allowed me to focus on my family and create a practice dedicated to accessible, holistic mental health care for teens and adults. Over time, our team has grown to ensure we can continue offering high-quality care while keeping wait times as short as possible.
We provide thorough assessments for adults, teens, and children from age six. Our initial 60-minute consultation allows us to explore not only presenting symptoms, but also medical, psychological, and social factors that may be contributing. Together with our patients, we develop comprehensive, holistic treatment plans. Medication is used thoughtfully when indicated, but our focus is always on supporting recovery across all aspects of a person’s life. This often includes collaboration with psychologists, mental health occupational therapists, counsellors, clinical social workers, specialist doctors, and GP colleagues to ensure truly integrated care.
