The Duality of Motherhood with Anandè Ferreira (Occupational Therapist)

In this episode, I’m joined by an Anandè Ferreira, an Occupational Therapist and mother for an honest conversation about matrescence; the profound physical, emotional and psychological transition into motherhood. She shares her own deeply personal journey, including the challenges of IVF, preterm labour and time in the NICU, and what it has meant to hold both gratitude and grief at the same time.

We talk about the expectations we place on ourselves as mothers, the pressure to enjoy every moment, and the guilt that can creep in when motherhood feels hard. We explore the idea that two things can be true at once; that you can love your child deeply and still struggle, feel grateful and grieve, feel joy and exhaustion.

We also unpack capacity, playfulness and sensory needs; how understanding our own nervous systems and paying attention to what our bodies are asking for can help us move through motherhood with more curiosity and compassion.
